“From the realities on the ground…it is obvious the country is increasingly heading towards a stable and more secure destination.”

Presidential aide, Dada Olusegun, has said Nigeria’s security situation has improved under President Bola Tinubu despite inheriting widespread insecurity from former president Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent arrest of high-profile Ansarul terrorists, Olusegun praised Mr Tinubu’s choice of Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser, describing it as a turning point.

He recalled a series of Boko Haram and banditry attacks during Buhari’s administration, including the July 2022 assault on Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, where over 100 terrorists freed 879 inmates. “On the same day as the Kuje attack, terrorists attacked a presidential convoy in Katsina,” he noted.

According to him, Kaduna State alone recorded 1,192 killings and over 3,348 kidnappings under Buhari. He said mass abductions and cattle rustling forced many farming hubs into decline. “From the realities on the ground…it is obvious the country is increasingly heading towards a stable and more secure destination,” Olusegun said.
