Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 3–0 win over Slavia Prague, as Mikel Merino struck twice and 15-year-old Max Dowman became the youngest-ever Champions League player.

According to BBC Sport reporting, Arsenal secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over Slavia Prague to maintain their perfect start in the Champions League and extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 13 matches.

The result also marked an eighth consecutive clean sheet, matching a club record set in 1903. Spaniard Mikel Merino, starting up front in place of the injured Viktor Gyokeres, impressed once again with a brace after previously deputising successfully for Kai Havertz last season.

Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from the penalty spot after VAR penalised Lukas Provod for handball. Arsenal doubled their lead immediately after the restart when Merino volleyed in Leandro Trossard’s cross, before heading in a third from a Declan Rice delivery in the 68th minute.

Fifteen-year-old Max Dowman replaced Trossard late in the game, becoming the youngest player ever to appear in the Champions League at 15 years and 308 days.

Arteta’s side were rarely troubled, though VAR overturned a late penalty awarded to Slavia Prague. The victory leaves Premier League leaders Arsenal with four wins from four in Europe this season, highlighting Merino’s growing importance in Arteta’s squad.
