An unnamed 31-year-old Brazilian businessman from Porto Alegre has reportedly left his entire estimated £846 million (≈ $1 billion) fortune to Neymar—despite never having met him—citing emotional identification and admiration.

A little-known 31-year-old businessman in Porto Alegre has reportedly named Brazilian football superstar Neymar as the sole heir to his entire fortune, estimated at approximately £846 million (around $1 billion). The will was formalised at a notary office in Porto Alegre on June 12, with two witnesses present.

The extraordinary decision has sent shockwaves through Brazil, as the man and the athlete have never met in person. According to local media, the businessman said: “I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot,” adding that Neymar “reminds me of my own late father” through his visible devotion to his family.

Neymar—who recently returned to his boyhood club Santos after a spell in Saudi Arabia—has not publicly responded, and his representatives say they have received no official notification regarding the inheritance.

The will must still receive legal validation before Neymar can claim the inheritance, and it remains to be seen how Brazilian courts will respond to such an emotionally motivated legacy.
